TALLAHASSEE, Fla (July 6, 2023) The Florida Engineering Society (FES) has awarded $36,000 in scholarships to recent Florida high school graduates and continuing university students who are pursuing engineering careers.
Twelve (12) students from across Florida were selected to receive the scholarships, which are administered through the FES and Florida Engineering Foundation. Among the recipients are six recent high school graduates, and six continuing university students.
“We care about the future of engineering and are working to keep it alive,” said Allen Douglas, Executive Director, Florida Engineering Society. “Through scholarships like these, along with classroom tools and STEM programs, we’re working to inspire and encourage the pursuit of an education focused on engineering.”
The 2022-23 scholarship recipients include:
High School Graduates ($3,000 per student)
- Angela Luca, Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School, Miami
- Allen Ho, Land O’Lakes High School, Tampa
- Hang “Stacy” Pham, Atlantic Community High School, Palm Beach
- Priscilla Chau, Timber Creek High School, Orlando
- Lance Harmon, Lyman High School, Longwood
- Austin Edwards, Crystal River High School, Crystal River
Continuing University Students ($3,000 per student)
- Alexander Alonzo, University of Central Florida. Recipient of the Raymond W. Miller, PE Scholarship)
- Sean Ng, University of Florida. Recipient of the Richard B. Gassett, PE Scholarship)
- Walter Ward, Florida Polytechnic University
- Bailey Wolcott, University of Florida
- Nicholas Kottas, University of Florida
- Adam Chase-Azzaoui, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
