A Message From FES President Dr. Charles Davis
Greetings to All,
As another year has gone by, I hope that all of you enjoyed the holiday season. This was an incredibly special time of the year as it gave people a break from the hustle and bustle of our everyday working schedules. It also provided many of us with time to enjoy the company of family and friends that is all too often missing for the rest of the year. I hope and pray that each of you had time to reflect on these special moments and savor the relationships we have tried so hard to cultivate over the years.
2024, without a doubt, has been one of the most exciting years for me. Being President of the Florida Engineering Society is by far the most humbling and rewarding honor of my professional career. At the same time, this year has been one of sadness as we have lost several wonderful members of our organizational community, and dear friends are going through demanding situations within their family environments. While keeping with the spirit of this joyous time, it is equally important to take a few moments, recall these other events, and keep these people in our thoughts and prayers.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the administration staff of FES for the tremendous effort they put in daily to make sure that our members of FES and ACEC Florida are well looked after. Many of us do not see all the demands placed on our staff, but their work should not go without notice and is greatly appreciated.
To the FES Board members, I thank you for your dedication to the success of the Florida Engineering Society and for your tremendous input in the proper governance of our organization. I also wish to acknowledge the participation of our parent and student chapter boards and members. They commit endless hours of volunteer time to ensure our members have opportunities to continue learning, networking, and socializing with other professionals and students in the community.
Lastly, to you, the members, my sincere appreciation for your support of the Florida Engineering Society and the pride you demonstrate in being members of an elite society. You are the source of the strength of the organization.
On behalf of my family and myself, I hope this holiday season has been exceptionally wonderful and safe and that the 2025 New Year brings you much health, happiness, and prosperity.
Sincerely,
Charles W. Davis, Ph.D., SSGB | Associate Professor
