TALLAHASSEE, Fla (June 12, 2024) The Florida Engineering Society (FES) has awarded $36,000 in scholarships to recent Florida high school graduates and continuing university students who are pursuing engineering careers.
Twelve (12) students from across Florida were selected to receive the scholarships, which are administered through the FES and Florida Engineering Foundation. Among the recipients are six recent high school graduates, and six continuing university students.
“We care about the future of engineering and are working to keep it alive,” said Allen Douglas, Executive Director, Florida Engineering Society. “Through scholarships like these, along with classroom tools and STEM programs, we’re working to inspire and encourage the pursuit of an education focused on engineering.”
The 2023-24 scholarship recipients (with photos) include:
High School Graduates ($3,000 per student)
- Rohil Agarwal, Land O’Lakes High School, Tampa
- Benjamin York, Creekside High School, St. Johns
- Jack Tchira, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, Hollywood
- Joseph Hadad, Creekside High School, St. Johns
- Sharanya Chatterjee, Freedom High School, Orlando
- Alejandro Paez-Sansonetti, Coral Reef Senior High School, Miami
Continuing University Students ($3,000 per student)
- Alexander Alonzo, University of Central Florida
- Adam Sardouk, University of Florida
- Mikala Furiato, Florida Polytechnic University
- Bailey Wolcott, University of Florida
- Luis Ramanzini, Florida Polytechnic University
- Nicholas Kottas, University of Florida
Additionally, seven college students were the recipients of endowed scholarships ($1,000 each). Those include:
- Sean Ng, University of Florida, Recipient of the David F. Ludovici Scholarship
- Nicole De Abreu, University of Miami, Recipient of the Cesar A. Calas Scholarship
- Ellen Hixenbaugh, University of North Florida, recipient of the Eric Primavera memorial Scholarship
- Adam Chase-Azzaoui, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Recipient of the Henn Rebane Scholarship
- Austin Duchene, University of Florida, Recipient of the Raymond W. Miller, PE and Alice E. Miller Scholarship
- Alexander Alonzo, University of Central Florida, Recipient of the Raymond W. Miller, PE and Alice E. Miller Scholarship (Also a $3,000 FES Scholarship winner)
- Bailey Wolcott, university of Florida, Recipient of the Richard B. Gassett, PE Scholarship (Also a $3,000 FES Scholarship winner)
