A Message From FES President Kelly Cranford
Hello FES Members,
Every year, I make resolutions to spend more time relaxing and doing things I enjoy. Since I enjoy working, that part is fairly easy to keep. Relaxing is more difficult – there are so many interesting things out there to do. This year, I plan to start setting time aside for relaxation each day and week. I’ll let you know how it goes.
If you are looking for things to do that you enjoy, how about volunteering for a local MATHCOUNTS® competition? Each of our Chapters will be hosting in-person competitions in February, and they could use your help. Click here for details.
The Florida Engineering Society has sponsored Florida MATHCOUNTS® since it originated in 1983. Middle schools participating in nineteen FES Chapters across the state will compete individually or as part of a team at in-person FES Chapter MATHCOUNTS® Competitions on various days during February 2023.
The students, teachers, and Chapter coordinators are excited to be back in person after a few years of virtual competitions. For more information on how to volunteer and/or sponsor your local Chapter competition, contact Jamie Graham at jamiegraham@melvineng.com or Benjamin Perenzny at bpernezny@ardurra.com.
Also, in February, license renewals are due for those of us who are Professional Engineers. If you need PDH credits to complete your continuing education requirements, check out our FES On-demand library here. Interesting courses are available at very reasonable prices for members. Also, please take a look at our event calendar here, which has several upcoming virtual forums and webinars that count toward your continuing education requirements.
Until next month – take a few deep breaths with me, watch a sunset, and enjoy those around you.
