A Message From FES President David Keough, PE
Fellow FES members,
Gratitude and Leadership in the Season of Thanks
As we enter this season of gratitude, I hope you all take a moment to reflect on the many things for which we, as a community of engineers, can be thankful. From the infrastructure we design, help build, and maintain to the complex problems we solve daily, our profession continues to make a powerful, positive impact across the State of Florida. I am especially thankful for the dedicated members of FES and ACEC Florida who commit their time and expertise to advancing our profession.
Celebrating New Leaders: FELI Class of 2026
It is with great pride that I extend a warm and heartfelt congratulations to the newest class of the Florida Engineering Leadership Institute (FELI)! This is a tremendous achievement, and we look forward to seeing the positive changes you will drive in your firms, chapters, and communities. For those unfamiliar, FELI is FES’s signature program dedicated to developing the next generation of engineering leaders. It provides intensive training, mentoring, and networking opportunities that focus on enhancing leadership, communication, and advocacy skills-equipping participants to take on influential roles within our society and the broader engineering industry.
Legislative Update and Critical Advocacy
While the official Legislative Session doesn’t gavel in until January 13, 2026, FES and ACEC Florida members are already actively engaged in pre-session activities. Your legislative affairs team is working hard in Tallahassee, meeting with legislators, crafting position papers, and ensuring that the voice of professional engineering is heard clearly and early on critical issues affecting licensure, procurement, and infrastructure funding.
Join Us: PE Legislative Days 2026
This pre-session work sets the stage for our most crucial advocacy event of the year: Professional Engineers Legislative Days, scheduled for January 20-21, 2026. Registration is now officially open! This is your opportunity to connect directly with state senators and representatives, share your expertise, and ensure the laws governing our state and our profession are well-informed. Your participation is vital—it is the direct engagement of our members that strengthens our legislative impact. Please visit the FES website today to register and secure your spot.
We look forward to seeing you in Tallahassee!
Sincerely,
David Keough, PEÂ
President, Florida Engineering Society
